Customs Expert

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Customs Expert to manage and optimize our customs operations, ensure compliance with global trade regulations, and support strategic supply chain initiatives. This role is critical in overseeing inward processing relief (IPR) administration, customs control, consumption tax processes, and logistics compliance across our global network.

you’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing IPR authorization tasks, including data consolidation and discharge documentation.

  • Preparing and ensuring accuracy of export documentation and customs filings.

  • Overseeing customs compliance, including monitoring declarations and approving commodity codes.

  • Maintaining classification, origin, and valuation accuracy for goods.

  • Administering consumption tax processes and supporting tax filings in NL and BE.

  • Maintaining and updating customs and logistics documentation for internal and supplier use.

  • Liaising with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and third parties to resolve clearance issues.

  • Advising on tariffs, duties, and cost-optimization strategies.

  • Providing regulatory guidance and delivering customs compliance training internally.

  • Assessing and mitigating customs and tax risks linked to supply chain changes.

Vereisten

you’ll need:

  • Higher education (HBO/WO level of thinking) with 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.)

  • Familiarity with IPR permits and related processes (including multi-location stock flow)

  • Ability to switch quickly between tasks and manage multiple priorities

  • Strong grasp of complex processes and ability to explain them clearly

  • Self-motivated, energetic, and highly professional work ethic

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills

  • Experience working with remote teams

  • Preferably experienced with AEO processes, Great Plains, and D365

  • Fluent in both Dutch and English (spoken and written)
